What are general considerations for reducing foodborne illnesses while receiving cancer therapies?
Food safety is a concern of many cancer patients. As a rule of thumb, USDA, FDA, and CDC provide general food safety guidelines and food handling recommendations. The effectiveness of these guidelines is dependent on patient and caregiver knowledge about, and adherence to, safe food handling practices and avoidance of higher-risk foods. At Blend to Mend, we follow these guidelines strictly, especially for the selection and handling of fruit and vegetables.
